This guide is essentially characterized by highly streamlined furniture arrangements, accented geometric shapes and a defined asymmetrical line.
It is quite easy to visually identify a modern home with its highly conceptualized interiors. Very expansive, undecorated windows delicately match the interiors and make a compatible association with the exterior landscape. A strong sense of geometry and leanings on sharp angular lines is an essence of any modern home. Delicate intrusions of light seeping through windows lend an artistic flavor to the room. Another interesting feature will be the profusion of art and accessories, making room for striking shapes and forms. Spot lights invariably throw diffused light on these art pieces, creating a magical surreal effect. The color palette that is found in a modern home will be hues of neutral or brown; fabrics, accessories and furnishings all sporting a range of pale neutral colors.
Surfaces in a modern home are known for its sleekness. Most of the surfaces are very clean, smooth and polished; with granite, concrete and linoleum floors and steel or chrome metal for kitchens. Most of the modern interiors are known for their living style; interior materials are imaginative yet very practical, such as cork flooring, which is found to be one of the more popular for its durability and style. Courtyards, sliding glass doors and walls and mirrors to reflect exterior views, encourage a relationship between occupants and nature. Rooms exhibit clean lines with lots of built-ins and cabinets; and nothing is extravagant.
Modern kitchens are deemed to be works of pure imagination; wooden or marble floors setting that solid feeling to any one who enters for the first time. Accessories will include light wood cabinets with Plexiglas and stainless steel inset laid panels, polished granite counters, stainless appliances and sink, and a white tile backsplash punctuated with pieces of broken granite that usually match the counter. The pronounced focal point of any modern kitchen is the central island; which houses the top range with ventilation and a preparation area. Some time it will have seating for four people too. Most kitchen equipments like microwave and dish cleaners are hidden behind a retractable door. Pantry sports multiple shelves on the doors and deep drawers on gliders houses pots, pans and other utensils.
Nothing is overdone in a modern home; everything is kept bare minimum. Doors are simple and the landscape is important, but very minimum with importance on quality and reason than quantity. The ambience found in a modern room is, some times, very Zen-like and it needs very little imagination to understand that the concept of modern style is here to stay.
