Don't be intimidated by hanging wallpaper it just requires a little patience.

Remove furniture from room if possible and cover room with a drop cloth. For safety reasons turn off power to room before removing outlet covers or switch plates.

Check for depressions in wall and fill in with drywall compound.

Blemishes will show up through wallpaper,check by using a flaslight. Using the beam of a flashlight directed along the wall check for blemishes. Paint spatters and uneven wall textures should be sanded with a light weight sandpaper.

To eliminate dark shadows paint the top corners of the wall with ceiling paint.

Prime walls with a high quality oil based primer. Especially untreated drywall because it has a tendency to absorb the moisture from the wall paper adhesive.

Apply sizing to the walls so that the wallpaper will be easier to remove and install.

Important note : Make sure you buy more wallpaper than you need so you will have plenty to patch holes and tears.
